Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Animal Friends Humane Society!

In order to have better understanding of who Animal Friends is and their practices and procedures, Volunteers must attend an orientation prior to assisting us. Below is a list of upcoming orientation dates. Orientation dates are usually released a month at a time. All orientations are held at the shelter. Our address is 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.

For our Volunteer Program please print and bring our Volunteer Application with you.

*PLEASE NOTE If you are required to do court ordered community service you need to submit a Court Ordered Community Service Application in person or via email to jessica.price@bcohio.gov. If the application is approved, we will contact you to set up your community service orientation. The volunteer program does not cover court ordered community service. Please note that our court ordered community service program is for individuals for are 18 years old and older.

Some things to know about being a new volunteer at AFHS:

All volunteers MUST BE at least 16 years of age. We DO NOT allow anyone under the age of 16 to volunteer regardless of a parent being present.

After attending orientation volunteers will be connected with a mentor volunteer for their first day to have one-on-one support as they start interacting with our animals! After meeting up with a mentor volunteers can come to help on their own time with NO SCHEDULE, anytime during our volunteer hours… M,T,F,Sa,Su 10 AM – 4 PM and W,Th from 10 AM – 5:30 PM.
The more you help the better, though we recommend trying to commit to a minimum of four hours per month.
