Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Animal Friends Humane Society!
In order to have better understanding of who Animal Friends is and our practices and procedures, volunteers must attend an orientation prior to assisting us. Below is a list of upcoming orientation dates. Orientation dates are usually released a month at a time. All orientations are held at the shelter. Our address is 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton, OH 45011.
The Volunteer Application signature is required
for participation in our Volunteer Program.
Please print and bring the signed Volunteer Application with you to the orientation.
*If you require a letterhead to show proof of hours for school, you must submit a request at least 72 hours in advance to at afhsvolunteers@bcohio.gov.
*PLEASE NOTE: Our Court Ordered Communitiy Service Program is temporary suspended.
We are still working with volunteers to fufill community service school requirements.
Some things to know about being a new volunteer at AFHS:
All volunteers MUST BE at least 16 years of age. We DO NOT allow anyone under the age of 16 to volunteer regardless of a parent being present.
Our orientations have a space limit of 25.

If you are unable to attend one of our upcoming volunteer orientations, please reach out to afhsvolunteers@bcohio.gov for assistance.
After attending orientation, volunteers will connect with a mentor volunteer for their first day to have one-on-one support as they begin interacting with our animals! After meeting with a mentor, volunteers can come to help on their own time with NO SCHEDULE, anytime during our volunteer hours…
- Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 9 am - 4:30 pm
- Wednesday and Thursday: 9 am – 6 pm
The more you help, the better! We recommend trying to commit to a minimum of four hours per month.
