Flash Found His Way Home

Sometimes, an adoption story becomes something even more incredible—a reunion.

Flash came to Animal Friends Humane Society as a stray on November 28, 2025. For months, he waited for a family, while our team cared for him and worked to find him a loving home.

What we didn't know was that all that time, someone was looking for him, too.

One Share Changed Everything

Nearly eight months after Flash arrived at AFHS, photos of him were shared on social media as he waited to be adopted. Those shares reached someone who recognized him—and ultimately connected us with his family from Cleves, Ohio, who had been searching for him since he disappeared.

After months apart, Flash and his family were finally reunited.

It's a reminder that something as simple as sharing a photo of an adoptable animal can have an impact we may never see. Every share reaches a new person, and sometimes, it reaches exactly the right one.

Microchips Help Pets Find Their Way Home

Flash's story also highlights why microchipping your pets—and keeping your contact information up to date—is so important.

A registered microchip gives shelters and veterinary offices a way to quickly identify a lost pet and contact their family. If your pet is already microchipped, take a few minutes to make sure your phone number, address and other information are current.

You Can Help Create More Happy Endings

Flash's reunion was one we'll never forget, but there are still so many animals at Animal Friends Humane Society waiting for their own happy ending.

You can help by adopting, fostering, donating or simply sharing an adoptable animal with your friends and family. You never know who might be watching—or whose life one share could change.
