Livesaving Statistics
Animal Friends Humane Society serves as Butler County’s stray dog intake shelter, and takes in sick, injured, and abandoned stray cats. We also accept scheduled owner surrenders as capacity allows. Our decisions are guided by socially conscious principles, never by breed or space but rather the individual animal’s health, treatability, and community safety.
Euthanasia is never a first option. Every case is evaluated individually by our medical and behavior teams, who pursue treatment, behavior support, and rescue or foster placement whenever there’s a reasonable path forward.
Our Live Release Rate is calculated as live outcomes (adoption, transfer, return-to-owner) divided by total outcomes, excluding owner-requested euthanasia. This reflects outcomes within our control rather than end-of-life decisions made by owners for their own animals.
